Do not enter total living-space square footage. Use the actual sloped roof surface area from a roof measurement report or known roof measurements.
For a two-story home with equally sized floors, dividing living area by two can roughly estimate the building footprint—not the roof surface area. For example, 2,500 sq ft of living space may mean a footprint near 1,250 sq ft. Roof slope, overhangs, garages and additions can increase the roof area, so do not enter that footprint as a verified roof measurement.
For three or more stories, do not use the divide-by-two shortcut. If you are unsure, contact us for measurement help. Do not climb onto your roof to measure.
Do not add waste yourself. The calculator already includes a 10% material-waste allowance.
